Let’s Build!

The One in 12: Building Campaign

This is a housing project that benefits not just one family, but in the long run, many.

We are an organization focused on investing our time and attention on one (or twelve) struggling families at a time, at a point in their life which could be described as none other than crisis.  By building 6 small Haitian style homes we will be able to offer 12 children and their mothers a clean and safe place to recover. During the storm of severe malnutrition it is here that these mothers will get a chance to regain their sea-legs. Poverty, unemployment, hunger and disease threaten to tear families a part. We are offering them a chance to stick together, replacing death and disease with hope. And when they are well, the mothers will return to their communities with renewed hope and a whole slew of skills that will help her family survive.

You can help!
The cost of each recovery home is just $2,500, including materials and labor.  We only need 6! You can help by teaming up with family, friends at work, your church group, etc. to sponsor the construction of one of these homes.
Second Mile Haiti uses traditional Haitian building methods. Cement blocks are made onsite by Haitian employees. By creating an environment that resembles village living women will learn to care for their children’s health needs using the very same resources that are available in their home communities.
